When it comes to photos, light is everything and is the source of all color, texture and shape. Golden hour is my prime time to shoot because it is when I can get creative and make all the magic happen. Golden hour happens right after sunrise or just a few hours before sunset, and it creates the most beautiful, natual light.
During this time, the sun is lower in the sky, which gives off a soft and warm glow. This lighting is perfect for creating natural and consistent photos because it lights your face more evenly and keeps skin looking soft and flattering. The soft light reduces harsh shadows and bright spots, giving your images a more timeless and airy feel.
Golden hour also adds a calm and relaxed feel to your session. During the summertime in South Georgia, taking photos in the middle of the day can be extremely hot, humid, and uncomfortable. Early morning or evening sessions make the heat much more tolerable and keep the sun from feeling too harsh. Not only does this create better lighting, but it also helps you feel more comfortable, relaxed, and confident in front of the camera.
Another reason I love shooting during golden hour is the background. Whether we’re in a field, downtown, or somewhere simple, the lighting adds depth and warmth that makes your photos stand out without taking away from you.
At the end of the day, golden hour helps create images that feel natural, comfortable and true to your best self. With every session, I want your photos to be taken with intention and care giving you high-quality images that feel timeless and authentic to you.
